There are many times in life when we feel like we are in a storm and our boats are filling up with water. The boat is filling up; the waves are crashing over the sides. We wonder what we are going to do. Will we be able to come out of this storm? Are we alone in this storm?
We can think back to the story in Mark 4:35 when Jesus and His disciples decide to take the boat to the other side of the lake. Strong winds blow and storm waters rise and their boat is filling up with water. The disciples, like us in life storms, are frightened and wondering what to do.
Where is Jesus during all this commotion? Where else?!? He’s asleep in the back of the boat. The disciples wake Him up, thinking he doesn’t care about the storm or about them. Jesus wakes up and says, “Quiet! Be still!” Immediately the storm, winds, and waves stop.
How many times do we wonder where Jesus is during our life storms? Is He there? Is He asleep?
Of course not! He is there. He is watching and protecting us and helping us. And just maybe those storms come along to make us stronger, giving us experiences to survive and strengthen our ministries. Yes, it does get stormy in life situations and we long to see Jesus before we get soaked by the water. Keep trusting and Jesus will provide a towel to dry off.
