During our July 4th week theme, we made fireworks on paper with salt, glue, and food coloring.
First, we squirted glue, lots of glue, on black paper to be like the night sky. We made the glue in the shape of fireworks, spreading out and splattering across the black paper night sky.
We sprinkled salt on the glue. We used Epsom salt because it has bigger crystals than regular salt. Then we shook off the excess salt.
We squirted some food coloring on the salt that was left stuck to the glue on the paper.
Hint: Be sure to put an extra sheet of scrap paper or papertowel underneath the black paper as the food coloring will go through and get on the table. It comes off the table but takes a little extra scrubbing and wiping.
