During Thanksgiving week, the preschool students have been reading a book about the First Thanksgiving and learning about the hardships of the pilgrim settlers. They read and learned how life was like for the pilgrims who sailed across the ocean so far away on the Mayflower. They learned how hard life was for them. They learned about the friendships they made when they reached their new land. They learned about the teamwork and teachings of the Native American Indians and how they helped them get established in a new land and environment.
The students decided to build a replica of the pilgrims’ Common House. They used the blocks to make one long house and set it up with little chairs and tables and people.
This was a great activity for using their imaginations and acting out the life of the pilgrims in their Common House.
