I have a word card game with plastic letters of the alphabet. Each card has a picture of an object and the letters of that object are cut out of the card. There are different colored plastic letters. Students choose the letters that fit in the cut out spaces on the cards to spell each word.
They learn to identify the letters of the alphabet and how letters fit together to make actual words. Then they learn to sound out those letters to say the words.
