Celebrate Columbus Day in preschool

Here is an activity to do with preschool students and work on fine motor finger exercises, too. Christopher Columbus incorrectly named the people with whom he met in the new land Indians. To befriend them, he offered them gifts of red caps, bead bracelets, and other small tokens of friendship.

Have preschool students use their fine motor skills to thread beads on string, rope, or pipe cleaners. Tie off the ends. Then have them give their beaded creations to a friend or parent.
