Happy Thankgiving
Happy Thanksgiving to all. May you have a blessed day.
Happy Thanksgiving to all. May you have a blessed day.
We set aside one day a year to remember to say “thank you.” What about the other 364 days? These are 2 hard words to keep in the front of our vocabulary and often get left out. Check out this article.
We have jobs and responsibilities everyday. Some jobs are harder than others; some jobs take more time to plan. We must remember to rely on God for guidance in planning and working on our jobs and responsibilities.
In Jeremiah 29, beginning in verse 11 (the Message translation), God reminds us:Â “I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for…when you come looking for me, you’ll find me.”
Why are we always in a hurry? Why don’t we ever give ourselves enough time to go somewhere or do something?
The commercial side of life is fast-paced, always trying to do things faster. The Comcast Cable commercial is funny but true in today’s fast-paced lifestyle, showing everything moving faster and faster but the Slowsky’s (the turtle family) want to slow down.
Fast is good at times but when we’re always in a rush, we sometimes miss something. This Holiday Christmas season let’s slow down: enjoy God, enjoy life, enjoy ourselves, enjoy our family and friends.
Do you ever feel like you’re in a pit, down a well, nothing goes right? Sure, we all have those moments. No matter what we do, we get the feeling that we are taking 2 steps forward and 1 step backward.
We read in Genesis 37 (The Message translation) where Joseph’s brothers threw him in a pit. This wasn’t the end of Joseph though. What looked like the worst and end of Joseph turned out to be a good accomplishment for many people.
What looks like the worst day for us may turn out to be for the good of others. We may make just the slightest impact and influence but that is God’s plan; He’s at work.
That title sounds like the old Stephen Curtis Chapman song. Love that song. We may often ask that question when we’re hurting or struggling in life’s situations.
One question we may ask, “Where is God when it hurts?” The answer: “He is in you, the one hurting, not in it, the thing that hurts.”
We must remember to place our hope in God and not in our things or in others. Things fade; God doesn’t.
When we’re tired and need to rest, there’s nothing better than resting and relaxing on a big puffy couch. We call our living room couch “the hotdog bun” because the cushions roll all around the body.
God can be like a big puffy couch when we lie down, relax every strain, and lay off every burden. Our part is to rest; His part is to sustain us as we rest upon the couch of His will.
Each case should be considered on a case by case, teenager by teenager, basis. Some teens are ready to finish high school and move on to the college level, at least the community college level. There is an interesting article on this topic and Fox & Friends did a story on this topic this morning.
I have a friend currently in 10th grade considering doing this very thing. She was homeschooled from 1st-8th grade, entered public school in 9th grade and is passing each subject with flying colors. She works hard and has parents who greatly support her. I have complete confidence that she could pass a test to graduate early from high school and enter a community college then transfer to a 4-year college to complete her degree. Her maturity level is well above some high school students and she isn’t interested in a lot of the typical high school scenes.
The only concern I have is the social aspect of college life. Is a 16 year old ready emotionally and socially to enter the college scene?
Fox News did a story on the ad campaign to be seen on Washington, DC buses through December: “Why believe in God? Just be good for goodness sake.”
One answer: Because being good doesn’t earn us eternal life, eternal security, a Heavenly reward. There is only one way to Heaven -through Jesus, and acceptance of him.
See Psalm 16 (The Message). “Don’t go shopping for a god. Gods are not for sale … My choice is you, God, first and only. And now I find I’m your choice! … And then you made me your heir!”
I frequently read the posts on this blog. I thought his question was an interesting one. I have my opinion and thoughts on paid ministerial staff and was just wondering about the opinions of others. What do you think?
